Why I Switched from Galaxy S23 Ultra to Galaxy Z Fold 6

I’ve been a loyal user of the Galaxy S23 Ultra since its release. It’s a powerful device with many camera features, making it a favorite of mine. Even though the Galaxy S24 Ultra seemed tempting, I decided it wasn’t worth upgrading just yet. Instead, I turned my attention to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, hoping it would catch my interest.

Over the years, I’ve alternated between the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy S Ultra models. I don’t stick to one series; I evaluate each model based on its features and how well it meets my needs. This time, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 won me over, and I’ve already pre-ordered it. Here are the three main reasons why.

1. Brighter Display

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a fantastic display, and I enjoyed using it. Its successor improved the brightness, but not much else changed, making an upgrade seem unnecessary. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s internal 7.6-inch display has a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, compared to the S23 Ultra’s 1,750 nits in HDR mode. This significant increase will make using the phone outdoors much easier on sunny days. The larger screen is also a nice bonus.

2. Faster Memory

At first, both phones seem to have similar onboard memory. The Galaxy S23 Ultra I bought had 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, however, comes with 12GB of RAM as standard. Not only does it have more RAM, but it also operates at a higher clock speed of 4800MHz compared to the S23 Ultra’s 4200MHz. This means the memory can process more data per second, providing a noticeable performance boost. Since I use my phone for heavy tasks, this upgrade is worth it.

3. Unique Color Finish

One of the most exciting reasons for my switch is the new color option. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers a Crafted Black color, exclusive to online pre-orders from Samsung. This color gives the phone a carbon fiber-like appearance, which I find very appealing. The usual color options are a bit dull for me, but Crafted Black is unique and stylish, making it worth the purchase.

Lastly, Samsung’s trade-in offer played a big role in my decision. They’re offering $800 for trading in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. After using the phone for over a year and a half, this is a great deal. This trade-in value is available until Galaxy Z Fold 6 pre-orders last, so it’s best to act before July 24 to get the most value.
